ABOUT US
We work with students of all ages and goals — songwriting, performing, joining a band, or just picking up a fun new hobby. Whatever you're after, we're here to help you get there.
It all started in the summer of 2011, when Austin Jones — then an elementary school teacher by day and a musician by night — launched Lessons With Austin. For the first year, Austin taught guitar, drums, and vocals solo, until his schedule filled up completely.
In 2012, he began offering small group guitar classes. After moving to a home with more space, he launched his first three group classes — and tripled his roster in a single month.
By 2013, growth called for reinforcements. Austin's brother Carson joined to build our drum program, and the lesson lineup soon expanded to include vocals, piano, bass, and ukulele. That same year, Austin left his teaching job to run the music school full-time. By October, we'd moved out of Austin's home and into CT Church in Pasadena, TX.
In 2016, we moved into our own building on Center Street in Deer Park, growing to over 100 students a week. We hit challenges during the pandemic, losing more than half our students, but came out with stronger lessons and a deeper commitment to our community.
In fall 2022, we became Space City School of Music and moved into our current home. Our name has changed, but our mission hasn't: helping students set exciting musical goals and reach them.
